A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Manchester teenager Conor Black.

The joinery student and budding rapper, who was also 16, died after being stabbed once in his left shoulder on Moston Lane, Harpurhey, in the early hours of Saturday.

It is alleged he was knifed after attending a party.

The teenager charged with his murder, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is due to appear before Manchester City Magistrates Court later.

Conor, who lived with his mother Anita on the Lightbowne estate in Moston, was treated by paramedics at the scene of the stabbing but he died on his way to hospital.

It is believed he was stabbed through the aorta - the largest artery in the body.

He was one of two teenagers stabbed to death in Britain in the early hours of Saturday.

Tragically, his death bore remarkable similarities to that of London teenager Nilanthan Murddi, who also died of a single knife wound to the neck.

The 17-year-old from Croydon was stabbed to death in the street.

His death brought the toll of teenagers who have died violently in the capital this year to 23.
